A DIVIDEND INVESTOR’S WORST ENEMY
While many of us have different opinions on which stocks are worthy investments, there's one thing all dividend investors can agree on — we all wish we'd started sooner! ⌛️
I was 26 years old when I started getting serious about investing (which isn't really that old, I know), but if I could go back in time to when I was 16, getting my first job at The Cookie Tree, I would take all of the money I earned and start investing then. I can't imagine the difference a 10 year head start would make, but I guess hindsight is...well, you know the rest.
The point is that time is a dividend investor's best friend, and with that, procrastination is his/her worst enemy. Let me tell you why.
DIVIDEND INVESTING DEMOCRATIZED

First and foremost, compound interest is, as Albert Einstein said, the 8th wonder of the world. The earlier you start investing, the more time your money has to grow, and the bigger the impact of compound interest will be.
It's like planting a seed and watching it turn into a beautiful, bountiful money tree over time. The longer you wait, the longer it takes to grow, so get planting ASAP! 💰
Next, starting early also means you have time on your side to ride out any bumps in the market. We all know how temperamental the stock market can be, but the longer your investment horizon, the less those bumps will matter.
You'll have heard me say this before (and you'll hear me say it again), but dividend investing is a long-term game. It’s not a get-rich-quick scheme or a day-trading frenzy. It’s about building a solid foundation of income-generating assets that will pay off over time. And the longer you hold onto those assets, the more you stand to gain. 📈
The importance of starting early is just one of the many things I wish I knew before I started dividend investing, and I share this, along with 14 other things I wish I knew here, in the hopes that you can take something away from my experiences so far.
With that, I want to hear from you. At what age did you first start investing, and what got you into it? Write to me here and let me know.
